Deputy Hamlin DARE Officer

We're thrilled to have our School Resource Officer, Pickaway County Sheriff Deputy Corey Hamlin, on-site as our designated Westfall DARE Officer! Deputy Hamlin recently completed 80 hours of training to earn the certification to teach the curriculum to our students.

With this new designation, Deputy Hamlin introduced the DARE curriculum to our kindergarten classes, making Westfall the first Pickaway County school to do so. He presents 15-minute lessons covering identifying unsafe situations, knowing when to call 911, distinguishing food and non-foods, and demonstrating how to recognize and be careful with medicines. Each lesson includes a take-home activity so students can engage families in the information presented.

In January 2024, Deputy Hamlin will visit our 5th-grade classes to teach the foundational skills that students need to lead safe, healthy, and responsible drug-free lives. We thank Deputy Hamlin, the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, and the Ruth Neff D.A.R.E. Fund for supporting this program at Westfall!
