WILLIAMSPORT — “If we pitch and hit like I expect us to, we will be able to compete with anybody that we play.” — Coach Eric Corzatt
Despite graduating a large senior class, Westfall High School baseball enters the season with expectations to remain competitive under head coach Eric Corzatt.
A core group of returning players who filled major roles last season anchors the Mustangs, while younger players continue to work into the lineup.
Leading the way is senior Cash Conrad, a left-handed pitcher and center fielder who brings power, speed, and baseball IQ. He is expected to be a key contributor on the mound and at the plate. Caleb Lowe, another senior, gives Westfall a strong presence as a right-handed pitcher and infielder, providing production both on the mound and offensively.
Rick Hanley adds stability at third base, where he has been a consistent defender while also showing power at the plate.
Junior AJ Pluta returns after earning first-team all-league and all-district honors, bringing a proven bat to the lineup. Brendan Biegler rounds out the core as a junior shortstop and pitcher, serving as the anchor of the infield with experience dating back to his freshman season.
Younger contributors are already making an impact. Sophomore Kaiden Adams has stepped into the starting catcher role and currently leads off, while freshman Caleb Henry has proven reliable in the outfield and at the plate.
Through preseason play, Westfall’s strengths have been clear. The lineup has shown the ability to produce hits throughout the order, with power across the field and a consistent ability to generate runs. Defensively, the infield provides experience and reliability behind the pitching staff.
Attention now turns to situational execution. The Mustangs are working to improve their small-ball approach, focusing on advancing runners, bunting, and making smart decisions on the bases to complement their offensive production.
Preseason results have been encouraging. Westfall scheduled scrimmages against larger schools and responded well, showing competitiveness and focus throughout.
Team chemistry has also stood out. The group has built a strong connection, with players supporting one another both on and off the field, creating a positive and unified environment.
Westfall’s approach is centered on effort and toughness. The pieces are in place across the roster, and the combination of experienced leadership, emerging contributors, and consistent production will determine how far the Mustangs can push as the season develops.
